Complaints and Appeals

Complaints and Appeals Policy

The International Journal of Event Management Research is committed to handling complaints and appeals fairly, respectfully, confidentially and without retaliation.

Complaints

Complaints may relate to:

  • editorial decisions or processes;

  • peer-review conduct;

  • publication ethics;

  • conflicts of interest;

  • author, reviewer or editor conduct;

  • copyright, privacy or consent concerns;

  • published content; or

  • journal policies, services or procedures.

Complaints should be submitted in writing to [editorial email] and include sufficient detail and supporting evidence where possible.

The Editor-in-Chief or an independent editor will assess the complaint. Where a complaint concerns a particular editor, that editor will not participate in its review.

Appeals Against Editorial Decisions

Authors may appeal a decision where they believe that:

  • a significant factual error affected the decision;

  • the peer review was demonstrably unfair or inappropriate;

  • a relevant conflict of interest was not properly managed; or

  • there was a material procedural irregularity.

An appeal must be submitted within 30 days of the decision and should clearly explain the grounds for appeal. Disagreement with reviewer comments or an editorial judgement alone is not normally sufficient grounds for appeal.

Appeals will be reviewed by an editor not involved in the original decision wherever possible. The journal may seek additional independent advice or peer review.

The appeal outcome may be to uphold the original decision, reopen review, seek further review or take another appropriate action. The outcome of the appeal is final.

Publication-Ethics Concerns

Allegations of research or publication misconduct will be handled under the journal’s Policy on Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct and relevant COPE guidance.

Response Time

IJEMR will acknowledge complaints and appeals promptly and aim to provide an outcome within a reasonable timeframe. Complex matters may require more time, particularly where institutional investigation or external advice is needed.

Confidentiality and Non-Retaliation

Information will be shared only with individuals who need it to assess or resolve the matter. The journal will not tolerate retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith.
