1. Introduction

 

The International Journal of Event Management Research (IJEMR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing publication malpractice. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must adhere to ethical principles and professional integrity.

 

The journal follows internationally recognized guidelines for responsible scholarly publishing and ethical conduct.


2. Duties of Authors

 

2.1 Originality and Plagiarism

 

Authors must ensure that:

  • Their work is entirely original.

  • All sources are properly cited.

  • Direct quotations are clearly indicated.

 

Plagiarism in any form (including self-plagiarism) is unacceptable.

 

2.2 Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

 

Authors must not:

  • Submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.

  • Publish substantially similar work in multiple outlets without disclosure.

 

2.3 Data Integrity

 

Authors must:

  • Present accurate data and research findings.

  • Avoid fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data.

  • Retain raw data for editorial review if requested.

 

2.4 Authorship Criteria

 

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have:

  • Made significant contributions to the research

  • Participated in drafting or revising the manuscript

  • Approved the final version

 

All co-authors must agree to submission and publication.

 

2.5 Conflict of Interest

 

Authors must disclose any:

  • Financial support

  • Institutional affiliations

  • Personal relationships

  • Sponsorship arrangements

 

that could influence the research outcomes.

 

2.6 Ethical Approval

 

Research involving human participants must:

  • Include an ethical approval statement

  • Confirm informed consent was obtained


3. Duties of Reviewers

 

3.1 Confidentiality

 

Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and must not:

  • Share them without editorial permission

  • Use unpublished material for personal advantage

 

3.2 Objectivity

 

Reviews must be:

  • Objective and constructive

  • Free from personal criticism

  • Based on scholarly merit

 

3.3 Acknowledgment of Sources

 

Reviewers should:

  • Identify relevant published work not cited

  • Alert editors to possible plagiarism or overlap

 

3.4 Conflict of Interest

 

Reviewers must decline assignments if conflicts exist.


4. Duties of Editors

 

4.1 Fair Decision-Making

 

Editors must evaluate manuscripts based solely on:

  • Academic quality

  • Relevance to journal scope

  • Originality

  • Ethical compliance

 

4.2 Confidentiality

 

Editors must:

  • Protect reviewer anonymity

  • Maintain confidentiality of submitted work

 

4.3 Handling Misconduct

 

If misconduct is suspected, editors will:

  • Investigate the issue

  • Request clarification from authors

  • Take appropriate corrective action

 

Possible actions include rejection, correction, retraction, or notification of institutions.

 

4.4 Conflict of Interest

 

Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts exist.


5. Publisher Responsibilities

 

The publisher of IJEMR is committed to:

  • Supporting editorial independence

  • Ensuring ethical publishing standards

  • Preventing commercial influence on editorial decisions

  • Correcting errors when identified


6. Plagiarism Screening

 

All submissions may be screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts found to contain significant plagiarism will be rejected immediately.


7. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

 

If errors or misconduct are discovered after publication:

  • Corrections will be issued for minor errors.

  • Retractions will be published for serious ethical violations or unreliable findings.

  • Expressions of Concern may be issued during investigation of suspected misconduct.

 

All notices will be clearly linked to the original article.


8. Complaints and Appeals

 

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by:

  • Submitting a formal written explanation

  • Providing supporting evidence

 

Appeals will be reviewed independently, and a final decision will be communicated transparently.


9. Ethical Oversight for Special Issues

 

Guest editors of special issues must:

  • Follow the same ethical standards

  • Avoid conflicts of interest

  • Ensure independent peer review

 

The Editor-in-Chief retains final decision authority.


10. Research Misconduct

 

Research misconduct includes but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism

  • Data fabrication

  • Data falsification

  • Citation manipulation

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

  • Ghost authorship or honorary authorship

 

Such cases will be handled seriously and may result in rejection, retraction, and institutional notification.
